How Did I Get Here?

In February, I found out I carry a cancer gene mutation called CDKN2A, which puts me at very high risk for both melanoma and neuroendocrine tumours. Once I had that information, I did what many people in my position do. I started taking proactive steps to protect my health.

👉 As part of that, I had a liquid biopsy, a blood test that detects cancer at a cellular level. It came back positive for possible cancer, with markers pointing to three different types. So far, we’ve been able to rule out two.
That leaves neuroendocrine tumours on the table.

👉 Here’s the Problem
Neuroendocrine tumours don’t show up on the type of CT scan I had. They require a scan with a specific radioactive tracer, totally different from the one used in my recent scan.

That’s the scan I need next. But here’s the catch. I don’t qualify for this specific test. (Don’t even get me started on our healthcare system).

👉 That means I have to travel to the U.S. and pay out of pocket for a scan that could help catch cancer early and possibly save my life. The cost? Over $7,000

👉 How You Can Help

If you’re able to donate, even just $2, it would mean the world to me. Every little bit gets me closer to clarity, peace of mind, and potentially life-saving answers.
And if you can’t give right now, simply sharing this story helps more than you know.
💗 Thank you for seeing me, supporting me, and walking with me through this. This journey isn’t over but I’m moving forward with hope.

With all my love,
Krista
